I believe in the magic of adding relevant themes to our course content in order to increase student buy-in and infuse a little fun whenever possible.
This resource focuses on the skill of selecting relevant and effective text evidence to properly support arguments (claims). If you use the CER or RACE strategies, this is perfect for the evidence portions.
This resource is meant to have students practice the skill in a gradual release method, where there's the mini-lesson, class discussion, group or partner work, and then an individual practice at the end.
Included is a Google Slides deck digital version, and the editable Canva template links for both the print and digital versions of this resource. I also added teacher notes at the bottom of various slides and a resource video tutorial as well.
