This freebie includes the intro activity to the unit - thematic statement debates - and a list of all supplemental resources (with links) used throughout the duration of the unit.
 
For the thematic statement debates, similar to four corners, the teacher displays the statement on the display board and students move to whichever side of the room matches their viewpoints. Students volunteer to share their thoughts/reasoning individually or as a group, and then, after all statements have been viewed, students reflect individually on their Google doc.
 
It is a student fan favorite activity year after year for any unit :)
